These Agboost genetic profiles are powered by Igenity.
The Igenity Beef profile uses a large, across-breed genomic database (supported by IGS -International Genetic Solutions) to provide 1-10 scores for key maternal, performance, and carcass traits. A score of 1 in a given trait is on the low end of the spectrum, while 10 is the highest.
It’s not desirable to shoot for the moon in the terminal traits such as YW, as this is antagonistic to maternal performance. In most environments, a balanced composite score from 5.1 to 6.5 is the best fit.
Also, not all low scores are undesirable. For instance, RFI stands for (Residual Feed Intake). This is the amount of feed that an animal takes in that it doesn’t utilize for body maintenance or growth. So, an animal with a low RFI score paired with a high ADG (Average Daily Gain) score should be very feed efficient.
As you view the pinwheel Agboost chart, the bull’s score in each trait is posted, and the traits are arranged on the wheel with the most heritable taking the widest portion, followed by the next most heritable, and so on.
