Here’s a good cow bull. He’ll put some weight on his calves and also leave you with some good replacement females if you decide to keep them. His dam is tremendously deep ribbed and is the kind that holds her flesh well on brown winter grass. Her bull calves are always among our favorites.

This Sterling Bond son is one of the standouts in our pen of bulls, He’s long, thick and correct. He’s a bull that will put some payweight in your calf crop. His dam is good productive cow but she’s a little longer teated than the average in our cow herd.

We’ve used two of this bulls maternal brothers back in the herd. His dam’s descendants have a little more growth and power than some of our other cattle. With that you get a little more frame in some of the females and a little more birth weight. There are always trade offs. (See our thoughts on maternal vs terminal cattle.) This bull’s calves will push down the scales at weaning time and his daughters will make good productive cows that might be a little larger than the daughters of some of our other bulls.

Here’s a bull that will be a stand out on sale day. He’s long bodied, big topped, and wide rumped. His productive H F Tiger dam is bred a little differently than most of our cows, but she’s also one of our favorite cows. She’s long, broody, and perfect uddered. After we used H F Tiger on some of our heifers in 2017, this bull’s mother is the reason we decided to use him again in 2023. Getting back to this bull, his calves will push down the scales in the fall and you’ll want to keep all of his daughters.

Here’s a wide topped, big rumped, chunk of beef out of one of my favorite cows. His productive dam is deep ribbed, prefect uddered and correct in every way. Those of you that sell your calves on the grid take note. This bull’s sire, K C F Bennett Culmination, has a + 229 for $B. Selling 2/3 interest and full possession.

This bull will sire respectable performance but his real strength will be in his daughters. His pedigree is stacked with cow-making Rito 707 and Emulation 31 descendants over and over again. Emulation 31 descendants are among the best, maternally functional females that the Angus breed has to offer. However, they have some disposition issues. Despite having a dam that is 25.33% inbred to Emulation 31, this bull’s sire is quiet and docile. That’s why we decided to use him here. I’ll wind it up by saying that some of the nicest cows we’ve had on the place are in this bull’s mother’s line.
